I am a teacher and have worked during some of these over the years. They walk out, no parent permission needed. There is no way I am getting in the middle of a parent kid conflict on a walk out issue. Usually admin tells us to keep teaching. That’s hard enough as it is with students coming and going. And yes, many walk out for anything to get out of class.

Not true. I'm a teacher and our school does not just allow kids to walk out.

Hahahahaha.

I'm a parent of kids who attended two different high schools in Loudoun. Kids leave all the time with no approval. All the time. They have also found places to hide in the schools, check out any stair wells, and skip classes and no one cares.

Either is fine. Some teachers look the other way because the act of protest is more important than whatever the in classroom lesson is that day. You don't "ask permission" for a protest. There are such odd balls on this thread.

School is not the right place for a protest unless what they are protesting concerns school policy,

At my kid’s APS MS, there was a walk out earlier this year. No one needed parental permission. Some kids went because they believed in the cause; others to get out of class. It ended up chaotic & some kids got hurt, so the administration ended the whole thing early.

Why do t you contact your child’s school to ask about it?

At W&L, anyone can leave, but the policy is that you need parental okay before the walkout to have it count as an excused absence. I don't have any experience to know if it's enforced or not.

Why do you think I'm a troll. How is this not a legitimate question?

No, anyone can walk out. No consent needed.

My daughter told me that there is a walkout/protest that is being planned to take place at her HS today. She said she wants to go mainly to get out of class. I do not want her attending this protest. Do schools just allow any kid to walk out of the building during these events, or do they limit it to students who have received parental permission?
