starting in the dating business earlier does not guarantee finding love, some of these girls just want bf to brag about it, I've seen hs couples break up after going to college or make it work through college, marry and divorce after couple of years, very few stick it out

What does that mean - not falling in love?

My DD is seriously dating at 24. I would have liked for her to have waited till 32.

I just dont want my DDs to waste time with boys especially when they need to focus on other important things. I feel like boys do not mature until later in life. I’m not sure what age is appropriate? A lot of you are saying it’s ok in high school, even that seems young to me. But then you wait too long and you see all of these people having trouble finding love.

What about 30? When they have found their career and lived a little with their friends? They can intellectually determine if a guy has all of the qualities?

Best age to start dating is when you are sufficiently mature enough to maintain your other responsibilities, handle a breakup without falling part, and have met someone you like who likes you back and treats you respectfully. Same for boys and girls.

More than casually? Beginning sophomore year of college - before that I think its better to focus on friends. Dating as a first-year definitely makes you less connected to the group.

Encourage, never. Flatly deny, probably also never. Not discourage, around 15

"encourage"? No, not the right approach. They lead the way on this .. unless they have some extreme outliner behavior.

Encourage to go to dances? Yes. She can go with a group of girls and have a great time, if that's what she wants. Going to a dance occasionally would be an ordinary part of school life and should be strongly encouraged.

When are you going to encourage your DDs to date? Is there a good age?
