Those camps are extreme luxuries that people somehow think are part of an American child's summer.

Camp is expensive but if you can afford it, more worth it than most things.

I’m doing it for my 2 kids. 3 weeks, $7500 per child (in Maine, too!). Not a specialty camp. Will be a months take home for me.

Totally worth it for so many reasons.

Yes- it's one of those fancy NE camps with obscene costs. Which is also off putting because we aren't fancy or northern.

DD isn't special needs at all and is extremely outgoing/social who would do just fine at a 2 week overnight YMCA camp for $2500

And can you afford it? I assume this is one of those horse back riding type camps that cost 10k? If you're making 400k, then you can afford it.

If you're only making 100k and camp costs 6k, you can't afford it.

Does your child have particular needs that make this camp the best choice/the only choice? I know special needs camps are both expensive and often hard to find. Without a strong reason I wouldn't be able to pay that much for camp myself but maybe your budget is different.

3 Weeks and it's in New England and we are in Richmond. So getting there and back is another huge expense/time taker

Well, for how many weeks? How old is DD? How is she going to be cared for in the summer if she doesn’t go to camp? Maybe the money is worth it because it enables you and your spouse to work.
