Made a huge difference in my PF.

I was disappointed to see that these stores are only in VA.

Does anyone know a similar option in Montgomery County MD?

(A store that will analyze your feel and have the types of brands being discussed here?)

I would go to Potomac River Running or Pacers and have them helps you try on a bunch. I love saucony. My sister hates that brand. It’s all very personal.

I need better shoes. Hokas look like so much shoe (bulky) If they are that great though I’d get them.

Supination. Just letting you know so you can find what you need easier

Supination! Thank you. (I was so far off on the -ation it auto corrected to a word)

I love the Hoka Bondi for long-distance walking. Also Brooks Glycerin and ASICS Kayano. Have walked many miles in all of these shoes.

I over-pronate and nearly every shoe hurt me (Asics, New Balance, Saucony, Brooks)… My foot surgeon suggested Hokas which I’d never heard of before and they are a live saver. Lightweight but so cushiony and stable.

There will be a lot of individual preference so really you should just try them all out in your home and take time to compare each.

My good friend with the same problems swears by Saucony and my husband wears only New Balance. They just didn’t feel good to me even though I know they are both good options.

I used to love Ryka and thought they were so comfortable, but the last pair I bought was not not the same quality as previous pairs and much less comfortable.

I like Ryka, but for you also try the Adidas, REI, LLBean, Finish Line, and Sierra stores. You might like the Sierra in-house brand or Scarpas (super-grip approach shoes). Do not hesitate to walk around, dance, kick, spin, and sit and stand up. They often have a climbing block just to test. Bring your most used socks. If you have Superfeet, or Dr. Scholls, or another shoe's inserts, pull them out and bring them and go a .5 size up. Avoid Stuart Weitzman (pretty and comfy, but awful for durability).

I pronate a lot and I didn't like the Hokas I got. I can't say why exactly - I do wear a lot of thick-soled shoes - but every couple of months I pull them out again for another go, and I still hate them.

I've been wearing a pair of Topo shoes = I walk and hike, don't run - that give me tons of support and are also very light.

Hokas are great for some and miserable for others. If you want to try them, buy from their website and take advantage of the trial period.

I didn't care for Hokas (too much sole for me). I was doing physical therapy at the time for an unrelated issue and my PT said that there were conflicting opinions on Hokas. Can you ask your doctor for a recommendation based on your specific needs?
