We spend about $500/week for family of 3 for all groceries. No costco.
Your family of 3 spends 2k per month on groceries? Even if this includes takeout, that seems high. I get 700 a month of food stamps for my family of 3 and it seems to be more than enough even when buying nice/organic items, and I'm in CA
We only eat take out once a week for dinner. Maybe once a month we do take out lunch too. No school lunches or breakfasts either - we make it ourselves.
$700 would have us not eating much. 7-8 years ago, when we ate tons of rice and beans and pasta at least 3 days a week, and when food cost half of what it does now, like chicken on sale 99 cents a pound, steaks on sale was $5/lb., we spent $600/month on groceries.
