I know right now you are thinking about elementary, but if you are looking ahead to high school-one thing to note is that in Prince William county schools students can attend a high school they are not zoned for if they attend a "specialty program." So if your house is zoned for Patriot, but your student is an excellent music student and wants to attend Colgan, they can audition for that specialty program and attend Colgan full time. There are satellite bus stops at the elementary schools for transportation. Many of the students I know attend a high school they are not specifically zoned for.
Oh thank you! I wasn't aware of this - we currently live in Fairfax County, which has its own confusion with the various AAP centers and IB vs AP, etc., so I will be learning a whole new school system if we move further out!
