I bet there were people there who also were at the Harvard commencement in 2014...grad students who went to Harvard undergrad, faculty who were affiliated w/harvard at the time, siblings who attended Harvard (or their parents), etc.

I'd think plagiarizing a speech in front of all the bored family twiddling their phones, it would be a pretty immediate discovery.

To claim that you didn't intentionally plagiarize because the passages in question were provided by someone else shows a complete failure to understand the concept. I wonder how much original work she did as a student? And her apology is half-*ssed - this is not an "oversight," it is stealing someone else's work.

She hired a PR firm to manage this crisis., LOL....

That noise you hear is the sound of university presidents around the country running to put commencement speech drafts into the plagarism dectecting software machine.

My siblings used to always say the biggest cheaters they met were the top honors/cutthroat competitive kids. They had things written on their hands, outright copied, etc.

Our Valedictorian was kicked out of UVA for cheating/violating the honor code.

I remember taking an organic chem final exam in college (big lecture hall) and the proctors kept staring at me and walking around making me nervous, turns out the student next to me was cheating off of me. They nabbed her after class.

I read the article and there was just too many similarities for this Duke Senior to be a 'mistake'. I'm just surprised that something that public someone would copy.

Maddening. Did she crowd source answers to all her high school and college assignments too? So tired of cheaters rising to the top.

This will be her google legacy forever now. What a waste.

According to Duke website, she is applying to be a Rhodes scholar.

Duke’s west campus is a copy of Princeton’s campus so not much of a surprise.

If Joe Biden did it in 1988 during the presidential campaign, it must be ok for Duke.

perhaps a more recent example would be Melania Trump lifting from Michelle Obama.
