I use Wedgwood Nantucket basket as my everyday China, and we use it...everyday. Plates bowls mugs.
Mottahedah (mine) or inherited set for holidays and dinner parties.

We have Lenox Autumn for our formal china (https://www.lenox.com/collections/autumn).

I love it. We use it maybe 15-20 times a year on average over 15 years and counting. We use it for Thanksgiving, some other holidays or when we have infrequent guests but don’t limit it to just then; we have used it once in a while with pizza just because. We have separate Christmas china.

I have the Wedgewood Vera Wang Grosgrain, which I still adore. And we have a huge set - 12 full place settings, all the serving pieces, napkin rings, silverware… the whole shebang. The only time I use everything is Thanksgiving, but I have to get creative to think of ways to use the less standard pieces…

OP you are inspiring me to break it out and use it more often! We use our nice glasses and silverware every day, so why not dishes??

The run through the dishwasher beautifully.

I have the Royal Doulton Biltmore pattern. (Yes, I am over 50.) We always use it around Christmastime. But at other times of the year (probably 5 times a year), we use my grandmother's old bavarian china.

I have Wedgewood/Vera Wang Blanc sur blanc. We use them for birthdays, specials occasions, and sometimes when we have guests. Agree that we only use the plates. Although if I had a complete set of the bowls, I'd use them more often for stews, etc.

Agree - I have a few patterns that I have mixed for dinner plates, salad/dessert plates and bread/butter plates. I have Pickard Bracelet Ivory and mix it with some of the Pickard accent plates.

For holidays I have lenox holiday tartan.

I use my fine china thoughout the year (I also have everyday dishes that are microwave friendly). I put my fine china in the dishwasher and cleans up perfectly. I love seeing my teenage children using it as well when they want to plate a dish they made or a dessert.

Agree for the most part, but I ordered only dinner plates and there have been many times I've wished I had bread & butter plates for either salad or dessert. "Dessert" plates in the US are really too large for these purposes (they're usually >8") but bread and butter plates could be used for a lot. Dessert plates are most useful if you're having a cocktail/holiday/bridal party and want people to fit 4-ish bite-sized things on them.

When I say plates, I mean the dinner plates, salad/dessert plates and bread/butter plates. I use them all. I don't use the tea cups and saucers and serving dishes that much.

OK yes, agree completely. I think the table is way more interesting / less bland with different serving dishes.

My more casual china is Mottahedeh's imperial blue and I use it whenever we have guests/family or are celebrating anything - probably 20x a year?

My formal china is Herend fishscale in rust (can look red or orange) with fun accent plates and I use it for holidays - probably 5x a year.
