This is OP I actually do not live far from my job but the bottleneck is still a pain. On another note the intersection area I am talking about is in Brandywine in far south PG county just outside of the Waldorf line (but really yes they do in some way blend together)

Since it’s a state highway, SHA would have jurisdiction and not PG County.

(OP) Yes its the lights for the shopping centers. I have been told that the shopping centers are less than 15 years old or so, the county (PG, not Charles, since the intersections are in PG county) had to know back then the effect they would cause on traffic. but maybe it didn't matter to them since we who live in Charles or St Mary's counties are the ones affected?

DH uses 210, but that bottleneck is awful all day, every day. I think it's the shopping centers, lights, and people coming on and off the road. A bypass would help, but I also don't think PG and Charles Counties ever thought these roads would carry the sheer volume of traffic they carry every day. If they do a bypass, I'd almost make it a straight shot from the beltway to Waldorf with no exits.

Those of who drive from to and to southern Maryland every day....what can we do about the the dreaded, horrible Brandywine bottleneck on Rt 301 (the area where the Target/Costco, Chick fil a is)? Does a bypass need to be built?
