We prep three heads of romaine like this every Sunday I even chop carrots, celery, radish and peppers too. Makes taking salad to work a breeze.

Has anyone used the salad spinner to more quickly clean and dry herbs (ex. cilantro, parsley, etc.)?

I don't clean my herbs until right before I use them, so this wouldn't make sense to me.

The bowl and the basket, yes of course - like any utensil. I will make sure there's no lettuce on the top, but I don't know how to really clean the moving parts, not sure you can.

OP here. Hmm, maybe I am being unrealistic. I have the OXO spinner and I don't think I am overstuffing it but it just seems like nothing really gets dry. If I want to just get heavy water off, I could put the leaves in a dishtowel and shake them over the sink and accomplish the same thing. Is that all a salad spinner really does, and I have an unrealistic view?

NP here, I think you have unrealistic expectations. Most people don't expect lettuce to be perfectly dry! But your dish towel thing is not something I would want to do, so maybe the spinner is for those of us who don't like that.

I rinse the Romaine leaves individually under the running tap and drop them in the spinner as I go. Then I dump what water is in the spinner bowl already, replace the basket in the bowl, and spin. The result is ready to eat.

I think I should get a new salad spinner, since I never have this problem with the one at my mom's house. But instead I just buy the clamshells of pre-washed lettuce.

Or just spin in batches?

Same as above. I also store the lettuce in a ziplock and I put a paper towel in it first. I also pop a few holes on the bag with a knife. I prep on Sunday and my lettuce is good for a week of salads.

I have the OXO spinner and it works perfectly. You can’t overstuff it though.

How are you using the spinner?

Am I the only person in the world who can't use one of these? I have tried but I never get the leaves dry. What am I doing wrong? Seriously we don't eat lettuce salads because I can't wash and dry the leaves. (We eat plenty of cooked vegetables or salad made of ingredients you can dry without spinning, like celery!)
