is there any chance I can actually get them to pay for that? Would cost well over $10k.
NP. I would give it my best shot. That is a pretty big mistake and forever damages the integrity of your windows. There is no fix except replacement. What does your insurance company say?

Upon completion, we discovered that the installer had for some reason decided to mount all of the shades directly into the vinyl surrounding the windows, rather than the wood frames (despite having the depth to do so). We put in a complaint and they are sending someone back out, but I’m not sure what our best course of action is. From my research it seems that this guy was an idiot and you never, ever mount to vinyl because it’s not strong enough to support the weight and pressure of shades going up and down. If we have them remounted to the frames, we’ll be left with holes all over our windows. Any thought?
No, but can you say who it is because I am about to decide which shade provider to go with and don't want to go with that one.
