I met great families here on DCUM. I had couple of good options within a week but decided to wait for better location. It is a good resource for both families and nannies. I would not respond to Nextdoor ads searching for nanny since I believe in more serious approach, and parents posting on Nextdoor often sound very casual, even when looking for help with very young kids.

Depends. I've had decent luck with live-in positions that are posted to indeed.

Care.com. Three out of my four jobs, including my current job of 3.5 years, have been wonderful. My agency set up interviews for me but I just never liked any of the families I was sent to meet.
