Nowadays most banks only hire people age 18+. Security standards are much more heightened and there are background screening requirements. I don’t think it’s realistic for high school students to be hired temporarily by a bank.

I worked at the movie theater in high school and still think of it fondly! Rotated between lots of different roles (tickets, cafe, concessions, "shusher"). Got to see all the new movies with ample comp tickets for free movies / popcorn for my family and friends.

I was just asking a question to help my child along the path to independence. No need to be mad at me for it. Helpfulness is always more welcome than nastiness. Isn’t that what we tell our kids?

Seems like all retails is a good place to start. Look for places that need more help in the summer - ice cream, pools, parks, mini golf

Apart from life guarding, where are your kids finding good hourly paying jobs? Not school related ones; just run of the mill, good old fashioned summer jobs. Seems like $15/hr is standard rate (in the city itself) now, but where are the jobs mostly? Is anyone finding it easier or harder for their college aged child to find summer employment?
