It should really be treated as infectious medical waste and disposed of accordingly for incineration. That would be proper, legal way to dispose of covid contaminated articles. Composting it might re-expose you later, and it’s possible that the covid germs might mutate or combine with something else while they’re composting and become an even more dangerous strain.

Not a problem, compost away. The virus doesn’t live that long outside of people. As long as whoever picks it up doesn’t immediately eat the apple core you just finished!

We have a compost we use for vegetable garden and flowers. We stopped composting when we realized we had Covid, but there is probably a week if compost that had our Covid germs on it. Is this a problem? Should we dispose of it in the trash? Sorry if this is a simple question, but we are new relatively to composting and not sure if this is a real problem or not. Thanks for any guidance.
