Going custom require a very careful write up of specs. And, yes, one-off pieces will have some unique aspects. I have three and all three were fine.

I knew this would be the stone you were referring to, though I didn't remember it by name. Saw some slabs when we were picking out our slab.... it was actually nice in person but definitely not for everyone (it's not what we got but could see that slab was a love/hate thing... DH and I stood there a long time trying to decide which side it fell on for us).

Can you go see it in person? Maybe the picture is bad and it will look better in person.

This is in the back of my mind too. We had a custom table made and I haven't seen it yet. I picked out the wood type and approved the stain color after many go rounds but I'm dreading it's not what I pictured. We also want modern and not farmhouse. It's coming in soon.

Post again if you get this resolved. I'd be interested to hear what happens.

We have a custom bench that the original orderer rejected b/c it has burned knots in it and they didn’t want the rustic look. We just wanted an bench with leaves and the stain matched our set.
Tell them. They can sell it to someone else just fine.

Did you tell them you wanted a contemporary, modern look though?

I did not change my mind. I have a call set for tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Presumably they sent you the picture specifically to find out if you were happy with the progress. I'd contact them ASAP and describe the difference between what you were expecting and what you are seeing in the photo.

I am beside myself. I paid a hefty deposit and am not sure how this will end up.
