Right. Because there are enough seats at DCI for all the feeder graduates, this year. That won't always be true in the future.

The chat was about 9th? The waitlists shown are for 11th and 12th. Magnet high schools don’t always admit for upper grades on match day. They get the lower grades squared away and then move the waitlist for the upper grades if there’s space in the building. Same thing going on for Walls 12th.

Yes but they wouldn't be on that particular waitlist. If you look here: https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/aaron2446/viz/MSDCSeatsandWaitlistOfferData_draft/MSDCPublicDisplay you'll see that there are multiple DCI Spanish waitlists. One for each feeder school and one for non-feeders. There were 162 kids waitlisted who didn't come from feeder schools.

No, it's totally normal to feel that way and the way the lottery works makes people put it last for strategic reasons.

Having said that, I don't really think this should be viewed as a "list of shame". If a school responds to a long waitlist or overcrowding by offering more capacity, resulting in a short waitlist, that is a good thing and reflects well on the school IMO.
