My junior is working 1-on1 with a tutor now and taking the ACT in June & September. Enrolled in precalc this year. This approach was recommend by the college counselor at a Big3 private. If your DC is more advanced in math, prepping the summer before 11th may make sense. Also, another factor is that my kid has zero AP exams to study for this spring since they aren’t enrolled in any. Good luck!

Marks Ed is privy but very good. Their diagnostics and targeted practice are unmatched.

prep1on1.com

Perfect time - prep over the summer, take test in Aug/Sept.

Benefits:
-prepped and ready for PSAT in October (which can lead to National Merit Scholar)
-can spend intense junior year working on their APs/GPA
-plenty of time to retake if necessary

Both of my children did this, one was happy with a 34, other a 35, both one and done!

DC had a good experience with Arborbridge on line.

As long as they have finished precalc, this is a great time to prep. Junior year is busy.

I agree with the 1 on 1 tutoring if you can afford it. We used/are using Prep 1 on 1.

We used Tungsten Prep and had virtual sessions. We had had mixed experience with subject-matter tutors (one great, one not so much), but the ACT tutor was unbelievably good and our kid really enjoyed working with her. The virtual made it a lower barrier to entry, and didn't seem to diminish effectiveness. (PP here with the DC with the big score jump.)

NP here - any suggestions for a private tutor or a company that offers 1 to 1 tutoring in Nova?

And this is speaking as someone whose kid raised their composite 10+ points in just about 3 months of prep, approximately 1 hour a week. If you can afford it, targeted 1-on-1 - with multiple practice tests so they get used to the format (especially in science) -- is the way to go.

Thank you!!

Hello,
I'm looking for recommendations in ACT test prep for current sophomore. Is it too early?
Thanks!
