Please note - CDC still recommends vaccine and booster for adults! Not in any way suggesting otherwise.

+1

We are dining on the patio of a restaurant with my ILs in their 80's and out of town SIL/BIL and we are all current on vaccinations and boosters.

Can you not do outdoor brunch now the weather is nicer?

Heading to Open Road....they have outdoor area that is partially enclosed....which I explained to them and all I added was that my mom would sit at opposite end.

Mother is an adult who makes her own choices.

I mean, does vaccination actually matter anymore? I'm vaxed and have also had covid twice.

Yes, I would go see your cousins.

The whole thing is a bad idea

Meaning....you would not go out to eat with anyone who was not vaccinated?

No, I wouldn't go out to brunch with my unvaccinated cousins especially if my elderly mother will be joining us. I'm at a stage in life that I don't bend backwards to accommodate selfish people with no common sense.

I'm on the fence now....we have cousins who we used to be close to...but alas....they are anti-vaxxers now and have since all gotten Covid...TWICE. They believe they have natural immunity because they got Covid already two times.

They are also very touchy about the subject and got all bent out of shape when I asked if they do weekly testing since they are not vaccinated...I was just curious because they work and have kids in school.

So....I invited them to join us for brunch...since my elderly mother will be with us I told them she would simply sit at opposite end of table. She got all defensive and said "omg....so we're still a threat?" and subsequently declined the invite.

I feel like they should accommodate the fact that we are extra cautious with my elderly mother rather than get all upset.

I know this an explosive topic, but I just needed to vent a little and see what others think
