Me again, I see I didn't answer the question. I take at least a day off from work. I have to force myself to take the time to feel my feelings, because my mind would rather just keep busy and keep my regular schedule (what I did after both my parents died).

Everyone grieves differently. Go easy on yourself.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Everyone grieves differently. I lost my 16 year old dog and found it easier to be out of the house a lot because when I was at home I was constantly expecting to see her and then being reminded/disappointed that she wasn't there. Whatever path you take, please know that there are many people out here whose hearts are with you.

I am very very sad + am in a lot of emotional pain now.

I had to put down another cat at around the same time last year.
I was working at that time and while I took off the next two days of work to mourn, at the time I had wished I could have stayed home longer to grieve my loss.

This time around, I did in fact take this entire week off and it has been rough as well just staying in.
I am constantly thinking about my fur baby.

My question is this:
What helped you cope w/a loss of a pet the best?

Staying busy and sticking to your regular routines?
Or taking a break and just staying home and allowing yourself enough time to properly grieve??

Thx so much.

I am so sorry. I have lost many kitties over the recent years and it is sad and hard. Nothing but time really helped me. I still miss them but also take comfort that they lived happy lives and got the best care from me. At some point you may be ready to add a new kitty to your life. But do not rush into it either.
