my husband is on mood stabilizers and currently pregnant via IUI (to be honest that's why we did IUI instead of TI as I was worried about the impact of the meds on the sperm but all the semen analysis for multiple rounds of iui looked good)-- don't see any reason why an antidepressant would be worse

Any discussion of possibility of inherited depression for your child later in life?

If so, would you be open to a different donor for IUI?

he's a fully functioning successful wonderful loving adult- he needs constant meds and sometimes hospital stays (bipolar). it may be hard but we'll help our child with whatever known or unknown difficulties they face in life. i have my own chronic health issues, would never want an egg donor instead.

If he sometimes has hospital stays for bipolar, then I would not consider that fully functioning. It’s pretty much the definition of not functioning.

Correct and is very often passed down. Not okay.

The stigma in this thread is bizarre. I once dated a guy with chron's who needed weekly biologic and had occasional hospitalizations due to bad flares- would you all not marry or have kids with someone with chrons or colitis? Or just anyone with depression, adhd, etc,?

Bipolar does not equate to Chron’s disease. Damn fool!

IVF is not an option.

Yes, if you have make factor, iui is very likely a huge waste of time and energy. I’m sorry.

Constantly on meds and bipolar. You should 100% NOT be trying for a baby with this man.

Gosh, what do you think she should do with the kids she already has by him? Leave ’em at the bus stop?

We are at the end of trying for our second due to my age. Husband wanted to wait until summer to go back to RE (male factor first time around). He now wants to start on an antidepressant. If his numbers are already low, is this likely the end of our journey? IVF is not an option, just IUI.
