You don't pay taxes on the earnings if used for qualified education expense (tuition, room, board).

Thank you! And it has tax advantages beyond the deduction you can take on your income taxes, right? It has tax advantages at withdrawal or something? I saw someone else say to only fund a 529 up to the tax advantage but I don’t think that’s right. I think the big tax advantage comes later. But I’m obviously not clear on what that is!

Can you start contributing again? I’d like to contribute a small amount monthly. Can I just start contributing as long as it’s been at least 5 years since I put in the $75k?
