Back in 2004 at my wedding, I swear the band playing Johnny cash ring of fire brought down the house. Everyone in their 20-30s were loving it, as were the 50s-60s set.

Was at a “younger generation” wedding recently (25ish - we are in our 40s) and the dj switched to 2000s music pretty soon and the young people danced but the older folks all left. Sixties to eighties is just better crowd pleasers. All three generations know them all, and they’re easier to sing along and dance to. And if the young folks won’t dance to older music, that’s on them. Sixties music way predates my generation and we’ve always happily danced to it and had fun.

I'm a millennial, but still love to dance to 70s music. Shake Your Groove Thing by Peaches and Herb is my favorite. Boogie Shoes was a big hit at our wedding.

I like this list but I could pass on Shout. I hate the song We Are Family. Maybe I associate with a cheesy commercial I think. I bet if you Google top 100 wedding dance songs, you’d get a good list. 80s hits always seem to be crowd pleasers.
