I think you get 2 days of makeup time for every one day you are out starting when you return. How long has she been out for? A week should be doable.as you approach 2. I would contact the counselor.

The official pre-pandemic policy is that you have as many days as your excused absences to make up the work, and if you are absent more than 4 days you need a doctors note. During pandemic - just communicate clearly to your counselor and admin, and there will be a lot of flexibility.

However, as a senior, your DD knows what her college plan is already. Prioritize any APs, if she thinks she can earn (and wants) credit for the course. Otherwise, do enough work to not drop more than a letter grade and call it good enough. I'm sorry that she's having a poor end to the year, but there is no need to try to preserve grades at this point. Just make sure she graduates and have documentation if college is wondering about a grade drop.

How many days has she been out and/or expected to be out? Does she have long Covid? Talk to her counselor and see if more could be excused. If she has long Covid and needs to be out for 30 days, ask about interim instructional services (IIS) which is school for hospitalized or students who are home bound for illness.

You either make up the work, take an incomplete or get the grade you would get without the made up work. In MCPS anything averaged with an F will be a passing grade so she will pass her classes. But it can reduce the grade.

IME the best strategy is to have her work with each teacher to make a plan. Many will excuse assignments but there will definitely be some work to make up.

My DD is a Senior and has Covid and is extremely sick even after being double vaxxed and boosted. She’s unable to keep up with her assignments and has reached out to her teachers who are saying, “make up all the work when you get back”. What is the policy for MCPS with an extended, documented illness?
