OP I hear you. I have a wife and four kids to be responsible for - I'm not taking the risk of going to dangerous parts of DC no matter how many Karens try to shame me for it. Personally, I think most of the best restaurants in DC are downtown. I'm not a huge Italian lover but if I had to pick, Modena or Sfoglina.

Ok that’s fine but St Anselm is in Union Market which is bougie as hell. You can park within a block and there are several good options for drinks before if you want. Plus the food is really good.

It’s just not clear to me why you’d bother coming into DC if this neighborhood bothers you. NoVa has plenty of great restaurants. The city does have more crime and poverty. If that scares you, maybe you are better off staying out.

Italian + 1 steak on the menu: Al Dente on New Mexico. Plus their desserts are really good.

Seafood plus possible steak options: Black Salt on MacArthur.

Both easily accessible from VA without venturing too far into DC.
