The transit time isn’t terrible. The issue with a lot of inbound containers is that businesses don’t have people unload them. I know places that several hundred containers in storage, simply can’t hire people to unload even at $50+/hour.

Those prices are pre Ukraine invasion worse now as Mariopal port is shut down.

Not normalizing anytime soon.

Have been trucking some stuff to western europe but those cost are crazy high as well.

In my experience wood furniture can react pretty badly to changes in climate when you shipped from some place with very different temperature and humidity. Glass is heavy needs custom packaging and has a funny tendency to break if not packed perfectly. Metal does just fine.

We shipped a container from Europe in summer of 2020 (before things with shipping were crazy). It was a little less than $10k. It was largely due to nostalgic items (books, photos, artwork) and some furniture. I'm glad we did it, even though it didn't make a lot of financial sense. But, I'm glad we didn't start 100% over, as our home feels more like a "home" having items from our last "home". We also have young kids, so it was easier to move our stuff (logistically) as getting rid of things and buying them again takes a lot of time.

Also agree with poster above who says furniture has no value. What you like may not be what someone else's choice. I laugh when I see posts on FB saying they paid $6000 for some Italian furniture and now want $2000. Dude, you used it, no one wants to spend that much on used furniture unless it is something one of a kind and to their taste. Some of these listings sit for months.

I haven't done this before but a friend wanted specific carved furniture from India and she bought a whole lot of stuff to fill a container (I believe that was cheaper than shipping just a few pieces). She had to go pick it up at the shipping yard at Baltimore and you need customs clearance. This was over 15 years ago though so don't know if it is worthwhile now

Are these really ornate pieces that you can’t find here?
I don’t know what they make but you may want to think about cleaner lines and more updated styles that will be desirable longer.

Furniture has no value so buy what you like but realize that something very traditional overseas could seem out of place here.
