Where would it be? Thanks for the news.

About the community centers- do we really need so many? Like literally, are they all used to capacity daily?

Or get rid of them and use the buildings for an actual high school that’s not better than all of the others? So inequitable.

I mean, isn't it comforting? To know that some things never change?

😂😂😂😂

I've been hearing these questions raised since my daughter was an infant and she's a junior in high school now. At least this isn't a, "Hey, I have an brilliant idea. Let's build a second ATS/HB" type of remark.

People pushed hard a few years ago to add capacity in the form of a 4th high school at the Kenmore site, moving the ms down the street to another location. There were reasons given by the SB and county as to why that wasn’t feasible, largely having to do with traffic and no place to put a secondary entrance/exit. If you are interested in a detailed thread about this you can search the DCUM archive.

To sum it up, they'd need to get help from VDOT/Fairfax for the second exit off 50 (which they've never pursued) and huge complaints from locals about traffic on Carlin Springs Rd, which already has 3 schools on it, back to back.

What have been nice to use one of the community center sites, like lubber run instead of another community center.

If Arlington had plenty of potential locations for putting additional schools, there would likely be much more demand for an actual specialty focus school. Not this self selection bs that has no true underpinning aside from size (and of course self selection).

Where would they put it?

The lottery results show that those programs are in high demand. Since APS seems to be punting on a fourth comprehensive high school, why don’t they just lean in to the obviously hugely popular lottery schools?
