Or high achievers do well and use those resources to cluster and have high achieving children. The Schools around TJ aren’t that great but you distill the cream of the crop you get excellence. Property value is one of the worlds oldest distillation methods and it is very effective in some regards.

It isn't that low & middle income kids can't compete, it is just that it is harder for them with less resources and opportunities and when that plays out at scale the trends will always reflect this. The question is if one wants to participate in an environment that there is little struggle for resources and minimal distraction from disenfranchised kids who often prove to be negative influences at scale. The parents who say it isn't better in these situations are simply pushing sour grapes.

Everyone agrees that too many poor kids sours the pot, but if we are honest a the individual just a few can cause the same effect for a class, a click or an individual that might not be reflected by the larger overview metrics. It is no surprise that the richest school in MoCo is the highest ranking but that doesn't mean the rest can't foster good outcomes for some.

Not true. Seems like a data-gathering issue as it was the first year.

Those with wealth can supplement privately to make up for the gaps in education in MCPS. That’s all that the ranking shows.

Nothing shocking, MoCo very well represented with several top 1000 schools nationwide with Whitman snagging the top spot statewide. New to me at least was a ranking of MD magnet programs with Poolesville snagging the top spot with Blair’s program only taking 4th out of the regional programs, I wonder if the CAP program watered down Blair’s results?
