OP here - I'm back to thank you for all your great advice. We're extending our trip by a few days, so we're now starting in San Francisco. then going to Tahoe with friends, then Santa Rosa to see other friends before returning to San Francisco for our last day in CA. That day we know we want to hike at Lands End and then have a great dinner. So my question, Bay Area moms: where should we have dinner? We're thinking of Rooh, but are open to other suggestions, especially if there's a hotel nearby that you would recommend. In the morning, we'll have time for breakfast and a short walk before we head to SFO and fly home.

Chinatown -- maybe a food tour, but definitely at least one meal either there or maybe Honk Kong Lounge ll
-see if Mr. Jui’s or China Live is of interest

DeYoung (maybe)
- this is a good one even if you don’t pay to go in the observation deck is free, Cal academy right across the street, botanical garden, Japanese tea garden, stow lake etc; walk to 9th and Irving for good, or tartine for pastries l.
Presidio -- hiking --
-ecology trail, spire, el polin spring.
Indian food -- maybe Rooh

Thank you so much! As I mentioned, we also moved here from the Bay Area (Palo Alto) and we have many happy memories of living in the Bay Area (in the '90s).

Visit Chestnut Street for shopping--Dress and Two Skirts and both adorable little boutiques with many restaurants nearby for lunch or dinner. Have fun! I moved to DC two years ago from SF and miss it in many ways.

Yes -- we'll have a car for part of that time. I've never heard of that park and will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion! Would else would you suggest we combine it with? E.g., food-wise or a museum or shopping in Oakland? (I think I went to Oakland once when we lived in Palo Alto -- to attend a wedding at the Claremont.)

Hi, SF moms -- I lived in the Palo Alto many years ago and this will be my first time back in some years (coming from DC). I'll be there in early June with my daughter, a college student. We'll have four days in the city (staying in Japantown) and then will go to Tahoe for three days. We'd love your advice on what to do during our time in the city (in SF and in Berkeley) -- we love food, art, hiking, and just walking around seeing architecture, people, etc. And, we both love clothes and would like to do some shopping at locally owned stores.

Here's what we're thinking; please tell us what we shouldn't miss, could skip, etc. And, please add your suggestions!. Many thanks!
