For those who seem to say FCPS always looks to be against kids and families, this seems like a very friendly and flexible policy. Family friendly, I would say.

“Parents or guardians may submit a student transfer application for students who relocate to a different school boundary within Fairfax County but wish to remain enrolled at the requested school for the final year of elementary, middle or high school. In these cases, school capacity factors will not prevent approval.”

Yes. She really likes her friends and teachers at this middle school.

You can apply for “senior status” as a rising 8th grader (assuming it is a standalone middle school). As long as the school is not closed to transfers, your request would likely be granted.

On their face, the transfer regulations only provide for you to stay at the current school if you're moving within 90 days of the end of the school year. So I would not get my hopes up but you can check with the principals as PP suggested.

Some will. You would have to ask the principal. You will have to drive them though.

DC is currently in 7th grade. We would like to buy a house in the summer which is zoned for a different middle school. Does FCPS allow a student to stay at the same school for 8th grade?
