It depends on your budget.

You want to do the floors before you move in. It is significantly easier to do when the house is empty. Explain the upcoming kitchen remodel to your contractor. He will then order extra flooring which you will store inside your house in the basement. Don’t store in the attic or garage since you don’t want it to warp.

When you remodel the kitchen you will share with you contractor that you have extra flooring do fill in any areas that need it. The contractor will factor that into his schedule and price and will sub out flooring repair during the remodel.

Now, if you can afford the kitchen remodel and flooring before moving in, that would be ideal. But it’s a lot of money to spend at once and you really don’t have a feel for how the kitchen flows yet. The master bath and closets are not very invasive fixes unless it’s a 1 bath house.

I am new to this game, our offer got accepted yesterday after home searching for 2 years. We had to settle due to the current market so my dream of no reno house did not happen.

The new place needs lots of touches- some major some small and we cannot afford to do sth huge right now.

On my list: flooring, whole kitchen redesign, master bath, master bedroom closets. Which one should be prioritizing?

Also, if we do the flooring and then end up next year doing a kitchen redo, do we need to replace flooring again? We are considering taking up a wall? Can they work in the area of ripped wall and uninstalled kitchen island or a whole new flooring necessary?
