Depends what you mean by easier. Basis admitted 135 5th graders, Latin II 42. Of the 135 at Basis, 46 were reserved for siblings and staff. Latin II had no sibling preference. Basis WL was 155, Basis II 192. And no one knows how many people are going to take the offered spots, but betting money is on a LOT of Basis II seats being offered off WL.

Was it easier to get into Latin 2 or basis this year?

If we knew there was a NW bus that would be a game changer. Without that information, we’ll likely pass up our slot.

I would be shocked if there wasn't sufficient critical mass to support a bus from CH. I think that will be one of the largest clusters. The unknowns of Latin II actually make everyone IB for SH perfect candidates to take a flyer in 5th grade. I have several friends who would be fine with SH but intend to see what Latin II looks like next year. People at Brent and Maury need to do something for 6th so Latin II is worth the risk.

Separate thought; I wonder by how many slots that WL moves after they process the initial declined to enroll population. I know a lot of families who put it on the list because, why not, but were unlikely to attend. Law of probabilities tells us some of them matched. My guess is that WL shifts a metric ton on post-enrollment date Day 1.

High on the waitlist and hoping to accept a spot if offered. We would also want bus service from NW.

What has the school said about a bus?

They are going to wait and see the location of families that enroll, which makes sense, but it’s not clear how soon after the enrollment deadline the decision will be finalized.

Anyone from the Hill planning to accept a spot at the Cooper campus? I’m trying to guess the likelihood of bus service. TIA.
