I just went through this. I think it depends on whether the used car dealership can buy out your lease or not. Some manufacturers won’t allow it. Otherwise it will take 6 to 8 weeks to get clean title if you buy out lease. Used car prices have been going down over the past few months so you won’t to make sure you will still come lit ahead.

Get offers from Carmax, Vroom and Carvana, plus a couple of dealers. Bear in mind that deals are few and far between in a new or used replacement. Reaping good. Sowing bad.

Also get an online quote from Carvana. They’ve been offering ridiculous prices to owners.

Lots of people are disappointed that it was discontinued. It was an affordable electric car and BMW plans to introduce a bunch of very pricey EVs in the next year. I’d buy it out if you want an EV, especially since EVs are tough to find right now unless without being on a long waiting list.

For the first time ever, I can profit by buying my Mercedes and selling it to carmax. This is because of the pandemic and demand for used cars as with past leases, the car was never worth the payoff amount and it was much better to lease again. Now, I'm debating either keeping it, as I only put 15k miles on it over the past 3 years - again due to the pandemic and telework - or buying it to sell. I can make $6k selling to carmax and I'm sure potentially more outside of that but carmax is so easy.

This is the right answer, especially if you want to lease a different or new car.

What's the year/make/model and how much is the buy-out? When did you enter into the lease? We can probably figure out how much you'll get if you turn around and sell it. Instant profit for you with minimal work.
