I don't see anything about the MATA portion of Academies of Loudoun so I thought I would create a thread!
I am wondering how many have kids who were waitlisted for 1 or more pathways? This was a complete shock to my child, and it is the 1st time it has occurred apparently. My child has been planning to attend MATA for welding since middle school and is at a total loss as to what to do, if not accepted off the waitlist. Also is waitlisted for auto mechanics and thinks he should have selected the construction pathway too for all opportunities
My child is very smart, with great grades, but SO NOT interested/motivated by traditional school and has been counting the days until his jr. year when he could attached AOL MATA and learn a trade. He is high energy and these types of hands on classes are exactly what he needs.
Are there any similar options anyone is aware of that we can look into if we never get off the waitlist for MATA? I was thinking of the DECA early release for work, not sure of the qualifications...
