My oldest did this, my youngest went 8-3. Both were fine with the transition.

We have a lot of SAHM’s where I live (me included) so that’s pretty typical here. No issues.

I don't understand either op. A 9am to 12pm X/week is the definition of preschool (with options for an extra hour or two for lunch bunch or "enrichment").

They're ubiquitous in here in the 'burbs so unless you're posting from a rural farm it really shouldn't be hard to find.

OP doesn’t indicate it’s hard to find just asking how it went if she/he uses that as a part of their childcare puzzle

Trust me, even children who have attended full day preschool childcare are tired the first month - or two or three - of kindergarten! Kindergarten now asks a LOT of children, given there are lots of children in the classroom, they move from classroom to lunchroom to playground in ways they never did in childcare, there are so many more people and rules in elementary school, iit's not playbased so there is lots sitting still and listening, t's a lot! Add in before/after care and a bus ride to/from school, and it's even more.

So 9-12 is fine - even the fullday kids have a transition period. What you ware looking for is socialization, learning to get along in a group, to know you won't get everything when, how and why you want it, being more independent with carrying lunchbox, putting things away, hanging up coat, knowing where materials are kept in classroom and playground, etc.

Both of my dds as well. No problems in K.

Both of my DDs did this and the transition went well. They were both a little tired for a month or two, but no issues otherwise with the longer school day.

Has anyone done preK only 9-12 (every day) the year before kindergarten? How did the transition to kindergarten go? Trying to find a childcare solution for next year and this might be part of the puzzle.
