My DD thrifted a suit for her BF for prom. There are a lot of suit coats at the thrift store as well as pants, ties and shirt. She started looking about a month before prom. It looked great on him and only cost $25.

My son will wear a suit. Bought a new one at Macy’s. But a friend bought a tux for her son at Nordstrom Rack. Cheaper than renting over time.

Just buy a cheap tux. Burlington, Amazon, where ever.

Mine is wearing a suit for prom. We decided to pay $400 for a suit instead of renting a tux for the night.

MoCo last year, all the boys in my DDs group for “fake prom” wore suits not tuxedos (and she went to two proms). That may not help you if you have to buy a suit. . . But just so others know.

Adding that blazer with khakis would have stood out as too casual. Fine for homecoming, not the norm at prom.

DS is a senior and will attend two proms over a four week period (so would need multiple tuxedo rentals). He's still growing, so I can't imagine it's worth it for him to buy one. But last year we spent over $200 to rent a crappy-looking tux from Mens Wearhouse for one night and it was an unhappy experience there overall. Is there a better and affordable way to get him outfitted for these two proms?
