Seconding Sugarloaf. Big winery and often has food trucks on weekends. I go there a lot after hiking the mountain.

It's surrounded by Antietam National Park and mountains. They have live music on weekends. Just bring a blanket in case they run out of picnic tables.

About 1-hour drive from MoCo, straight up I270 and I70.

If you want a decent meal, try Captain Bender's Tavern just down the road from it. Ignore the confederate flags -- it's Sharpsburg which was home to some of the bloodiest battles of the civil war, so they really are there for historic reasons not to glorify the Old South.

Came here to also recommend Antietam winery. Lovely setting, nice wine.

If you want something in MoCo check out Rocklands farm winery in poolesville.

I have to be honest. I think the md wineries are awful. Yes, even windridge. I think the only thing windridge has going for it is the view. When I went I couldn’t believe people were drinking the wine. It is terrible. Rocklands isn’t any better. You have to drive like far into va to get any decent wine. We really don’t have the climate.

Op here….Most of us are in MoCo so this is a great recommendation, but willing to drive a little farther.

I’m trying to organize a small get together with a group of friends in mid June and Looking for a Local Winery In the Maryland area. Any recommendations?
