I do this; every adult of a certain age who monitors their weight does little calculations like this.

Can you find a less caloric potato chip? I love the "reduced guilt" ones at Trader Joe's, because they're thin and less salty. I crave the crunch, but I don't actually like too much salt.

Or... popcorn, maybe? Less caloric. Perhaps not enough crunch? Maybe a few crackers?

I would just eat the chips. If you are at the weight that works for you (or losing weight towards that goal) then you can have some chips! It's not like you're eating a jumbo bag each day.

You could swap fried chips with baked ones, or try air-popped popcorn (but careful what toppings you put on it...if you melt a bunch of butter on it it's probably less healthy than chips!) if you did want something different. But if you can keep yourself to one handful a night it's not the end of the world. Maybe just add some extra water or herbal tea afterwards to balance out the salt, and brush your teeth after so you don't snack more.

100%

If you've worked it into your plan, that's a great way to provide balance.

Have you tried Popcorners? I'm obsessed. Or another healthy popcorn like SmartPop.

Are you this useless in every part of your life?

Roasted chick peas? Locate some interesting spices that are similar to your favorite chip. Look in the popcorn aisle for spices.

+1. Or you could make kale chips, Brussels sprout leave chips, beef chips. But those have oil and salt anyway so why not just eat your chips?

I eat balanced meals all day long with plenty of fruits and veggies and whole grains. Occasionally, I’ll eat a bag of chips or some candy. I don’t feel bad about it because 95% of my diet is healthy.

My dinner includes lean protein, whole grains, lots of veggies. The chips includes… chips. But I “need” that kick of salt/fat/crunch to get me through my after-dinner workload. Can you tell me what I can replace the chips with?
