Same here, a few weeks ago. I think it was the first time we managed to finish the entire container, though, because no way was I going to let any of it go to waste.

I have red lines for everything, always. We eat a lot of meat and if brisket is over $6/lb we get pork shoulder. If pork shoulder is over 1.49/lb we get chicken. And so on. I hit my red line on oxtail a couple of years ago when it got to be $8-10/lb. I haven't bought it in years. Hopefully it will fall out of favor with whoever just discovered it and I can eat it again some day.

Produce we buy sales and seasonal. The name of the game is no fixed menus so we can always pivot in the grocery store.

Like a $5.00 can of soup is pretty expensive, but a can of a soup and some bread is still a pretty cheap meal for the family, whether that's a total of $8 or a total of $12.

one can of Progresso is one serving.
Wont come anywhere near feeding a family.

They're available at my farmer's market for $5, FYI. Locally sourced is less impacted by gas prices I guess.

One dozen egg was ~$3.50 at Safeway. Used to be 1/2.

Honestly, I haven’t gotten there yet. The only thing I can think of that’ll are sauces, like specialty BBQ/marinade sauces. I won’t pay $5-$6 for a bottle of sauce.

As we all know, costs have gone up for many items. Whether you can afford it or not, what are the items where the cost has risen to a point where you just don’t find the value in the product any longer?

I’ll start with Progresso Soup. I saw it recently at Giant for $4.09. Sorry, no.
