it's not too hard for them?

Nope, floors are good! Plenty of space to figure out how their limbs work and basically no suffocation risk. I have wall to wall carpets though; if I had hardwood I might put him down on his play mat for a little extra padding. My four month old is dozing next to me as I type.

Carpets are a greater risk than a crib. Please just use a crib or bassinet.

My pediatrician has no objection to a blanket on the floor -- she actually encouraged it over any container. Not sure where you're getting that a harder surface than a crib is more dangerous than a crib, especially with constant adult supervision.

Crib (or porta crib or some variation). That is the only place your child should be sleeping.

We had a pack and play in the living room for the first several weeks and that was great while the baby could nap through anything. Somewhere around 4 or 3 naps a day, I can’t remember exactly, we transitioned to the crib.

My baby has napped in the crib since she was a newborn, with a monitor.

Do you have a video monitor..to me it is really just like being there? He does make it through the night while you are asleep...

i prefer to have him next to me at least until he turns 2 months or so...

If you'll be right there, fine to put in a swing or bouncer. Or get a pack and play or portable bassinet.

Why not just put him in his bassinet/crib? That's where mine sleeps even when I'm elsewhere. You don't need to be in the same room.

If you're sitting in the living room/living area during the day trying to get work done, where is your little one sleeping? Trying to find something to let him nap in during the day that's safe...
