I have a friend with an overweight 10 year old daughter. Nobody else in the family is (mom, dad and son are all fit/thin). My friend is not embarrassed and posts as many picture of her overweight daughter as she does of her thin son (thankfully).

I don’t know them very well to know if the daughter has issues with her own weight, but on FB she looks happy and well adjusted

Most children who are overweight also have an overweight parent or parents.

I think this is common, but never said aloud, especially if parents are not overweight themselves.

Np.
Op didn’t say they were doing this. They just asked if others felt this way. I’m not saying that’s necessarily better, just pointing out a fact.

Get therapy. Please.

DD takes medication that makes her prone to weight gain. Other kids are "normal" weight. We post about the same amount of pictures of all of them. Anyone who knows us well enough for us to value their opinion knows about DD's condition and could assume the side effects. Or not, it doesn't really matter.

I *do* get your question tho, OP. I had a friend who used to message me only to gossip about our mutual friend's posts on SM and how overweight the children were (both parents were overweight). I ended up letting that friendship go, although my fat friend with lovely fat kids and I get along just fine.

OMG please don't do this to your children. I was obese my whole childhood and it ruined my self confidence. Luckily I immediately lost weight and changed my life the minute I moved out of the house. Turns out keeping junk food around and making crappy meals with no idea of portion control isn't such a good way to raise a kid.

I mean it's the parents fault if they have an obese child, not the child's. Perhaps they're embarrassed by their poor parenting.

I can’t even imagine doing this. DS was overweight between 9 years and 12 years. And now he isn’t. No difference in photo numbers at any point.

No, of course not. My children, ALL my children, are beautiful and smart and kind and good-natured and creative. I am so proud of them and would seek therapy if I were so shallow as to be embarrassed by them for being overweight.

are you embarrassed? Self-conscious about posting pictures them on social media?
