I grew up in nova and yeah I don’t recall anyone ever dreaming of wanting to do anything but leave here. Most of my local friends who grew up here have moved out of this area.

I would dream of moving to Peru or Iceland or something. Not some lame DC suburb like Arlington or McLean LOL.

There are actually a lot of people who grew up in McLean and return here to raise a family, but you bash them, too.

What’s you budget OP? Falls Church City has 2 houses currently on the market, one 2800 sq ft almost tear down for 1.3 mil and a brand new 3400 sq ft one for 1.8 mil.

Reassess your priorities. There is inexpensive housing in both communities but it may require compromises - a condo or townhouse instead of a single-family home. Or an older single-family home with no parking, or a carport instead of a garage. If you want a bigger, newer home on a bit of land, -rethink your desire to live close to D.C. - consider other suburbs or the exurbs instead.

What kind of home do you want?

Smaller townhomes and condos are available in Alexandria and occasionally a SFH is reasonably priced.

Falls Church City or Vienna. Reston if you don't need public schools.

Budget, commute desires, do you have kids who need public schools, other wants/needs? So many questions to be able to answer this.
