She does all the time. Birthday parties, holidays and school functions. My sister doesn’t ever correct her or just leave.

Kids are a work in progress. Sounds like you had a great day with your niece and then had one negative incident. For a 7yo, that sounds typical.

I guarantee your kids sometimes do things wrong. I know they do, because they are kids and all kids are still figuring it all out. When your kids do one wrong thing after doing great for hours, do you think “Wow, I guess it’s time to rethink my entire parenting approach because my kids are brats and I’m a failure— I should call my judgmental sister and have her tell me what to do.”

No? I’m guessing your sister doesn’t either.

Glad you are taking a break from your niece as you clearly are not in a place where you can deal with normal 7yo behavior.

That’s bizarre. I’ve literally never heard of a kid feeling comfortable having an attitude like that to a complete stranger.

1. A grown up should not cry when a 7 year old says mean things.

2. A 7 year old rarely does this unless they have psychiatric problems, which your sister, if she's like you, is probably not equipped to deal with.

3. A talk with the pediatrician is in order, followed by a possible evaluation by a reputable child psychologist.

I took my kids and nieces to the park. Beautiful weather, we play, had a picnic lunch and overall great day! I hear screaming and shouting while I was packing up our lunch basket. My 7 year old niece is preaching to a mom about her kids bad behavior. I told her to stop and walk her to my car and told her to sit down. I came to apologize to the lady and her kids, and she stared to cry and told me what my niece said to her and the kids. One of the kid stepped on my niece by accident and she went off on him and called him names and etc. This is not the first time we had incident at the park or anywhere in general. She doesn’t know how to talk to kids or adults period. My sister doesn’t not believe in punishment and let’s her said whatever she wants. I just dropped her off at home and told my sister what just happened. My sister said she will take care of it. I told my niece until her behavior improves, no more hanging out with me or my kids.
