Wealthy people have the money to get out of a marriage that isn't working. Middle class people can't always afford to make such a big mistake.

Yes, I have noticed it's become more common for wealthy young adults to marry right after undergrad.

Not so common for the middle class.

I agree young sounds like high school or college drop outs with no plans or aspirations. Young ones I see are nerdy ones going to grad schools, medical schools, starting lucrative careers. Many are together since college and used to supporting each other in ambitions pursuits.

25–27 doesn’t seem early to me. Just about everyone in my grad school circle married before age 30.

What? In my circles (mostly MC, some UC) this correlated with religion and how long it took people to meet the right person. I know a couple people who wanted to finish grad/med/law school first, and a lot more people who got married but waited a while to have kids. I have definitely not noticed a trend or think there is any "status" associated with younger marriage.

That’s usually not the plan, they want to establish career, buy a house, pay off student loans and have fun together. Mostly college sweethearts with six figure jobs.

I consider "young" as not completing college or getting married right out of college. Even the "young" range you mentioned isn't that young. I think the gamble is how long do you want to wait to have kids? I wouldn't get married at 25 and jump into kids right away -- spend some time as a couple so you both have the experience and as another PP said the time to figure out that maybe this wasn't a great match.

It seems young rich people now are more willing to marry and have children earlier.

Depends on how rich, and how religious they are.

Also, marrying young does not mean having kids immediately.

I’m in healthcare, often see kids of wealthy docs marrying right after undergrad, specially if they are going to med school themselves, probably because they have about 10 years before they’ll be done and doesn’t see a point in waiting.

Marrying young is like a tattoo, bad judgment. Neither position people for a good future.

More people are willing to marry but less want children or at least in early years of their marriage or career.

Most people who marry early are either from affluent families or poor families, middle class has bigger challenges.
