I didn’t gain weight for my husband but when he sees pictures of me from my early 20’s he says he’s glad we didn’t meet then because he wouldn’t have been attracted to me. I was 118 then and was 128 when we met. I’m 140 now and he prefers me at this weight. I don’t though so am trying to lose.

Oink oink oink. Chauvinist piggy alert.

I think the pp who was asked to lose weight was quite overweight to begin with - her DH asked her to lose 40 pounds after all. I think if someone is asking you to maintain a healthy weight and part of it is that they are more attracted to you at that weight, it is fine. But, to ask you to be at a weight that is considered overweight for your height is not reasonable.

Liking you while pregnant is not the same is just being fat.

But seriously no. Nice try but this doesn't work in reverse.

I believe you, but why is that?
It feels like the weight loss thing isn’t really about being attractive for your spouse. It’s about something else. Or it’s a proxy for something else.

Never change your body for a man. They are unobservant and won't appreciate the effort.

Only change your body for yourself.

I work at toning and gaining muscle in my butt for my SO but wouldn’t gain weight for him if I didn’t personally like that weight. I do also lose weight at times but it’s for me as much as him.

Wtf. no. You are five two. You shouldn’t weigh more than 120. It’s not healthy. He’s an ass.

Don’t make yourself unhealthy for your husband. That’s stupid.

I don't see why he couldn't ask and you could consider it and tell him your decision.

In response to the “if you lost weight for your spouse” thread.

I’m 5’2 and usually weigh between 110-120. My H is attracted to me, but has made a couple comments how he prefers bigger women.

When I gained 40 pounds during pregnancy, he couldn’t keep his hands off me while I was pregnant and postpartum. I lost the weight because I’m happier at a lower weight, and my body gravitates towards 115# anyway. He’s still attracted, but I can tell it’s not as much as he was. Still hints that he misses my bigger butt.

Would it be reasonable if he requested I gain weight so he could be attracted to me?

What if I was overweight when we met and then lost weight? Could he ask me to regain the weight?
