I'll be 54 this year and still get toys for my birthday. My partner is 40 and I just bought him a couple of Star Wars Lego sets. I also get him the wooden 3d puzzle sets like a clock or a marble machine.
I'm sad for your son that you think 11 is too old for toys.

I’d rather buy my kid legos than video games! Our whole family loves legos, so there is no end date if they’re enjoyed, IMO.

My 30 yo nephew still buys them. He is a successful engineer and swears Lego contributed to his smart brain

He loves to tinker. Why are you trying squash that?
Abd he's specifically asking for it; for a bday present. Why aren't you thrilled?
Fwiw, dh would love the chance to build the lego version of the millennial falcon.
See, there really is no age limit to legos.

Well, I probably wouldn’t practice lying to him or being deceptive.

What’s wrong with building it once? Why does it need to be displayed? They are like 3-d puzzles; no need to do it again or display it.

Would you rather he be scrolling TikTok or doing something constructive?

Also, there is a pretty good second hand lego market out there, if you're interested at all.

If he’s asked for Lego and will built the structure I would but it and be thankful he’s not asking for video games.

My son is turning 11 and wants an expensive Lego set. He has a billion Lego sets from every birthday and Christmas from the time he was 3 till now and he barely ever plays with them. He builds it once and never again. He doesn't even display it; just goes to the giant Lego bin. I feel he is getting to that age where toys are just not a thing anymore. Is it mean to refuse to buy anymore legos?
