We're paying $950 biweekly (so just over $2,000 per month) at a federal building in Chinatown for the infants classroom.

In McLean/Tysons centers are more like 2400-2700 for infant care

Thanks everyone! I do prefer centers so I’ll try to look into options in church/schools/buildings

I found it was easier to use a home based daycare until I could move to a center at 18 months or 2 yrs. Infant care is incredibly expensive b/c of the low ratio. I would check out the Arlington County child care website. It has spots available in real time, and lots of registered providers. We paid about $1200/month a few years ago.

I found that if you want a center (nothing against in homes, we used one for a while), the cheaper ones tend to be in churches or other subsidized facility (like s government building or public school).

I’m downtown — that was what I saw for everyone except the ones in federal buildings. Fortunately I got off the wait list for one of those (which is ~$1000 every two weeks).

Bethesda we pay around $2750. That seems to be the norm around here (for a center, a small chain).

If you’re looking at Bright Horizons - those places are heavily subsidized by employers.

I’ve been looking at daycare options for my baby and the prices I’ve gotten have been around $3000 a month for preschool centers in Arlington and NoMA (my target areas). So expensive! Is that typical for other neighborhoods in or close to the city? I prefer not to pick a place out of the way of our daily commutes to save just a few dollars, but if the price is significantly different I would consider it.

What are others paying for infant care in or close to DC?
