Blinds.com

They used to have a 30-50% sales pretty regularly but haven’t been to their site recently. We got blinds+installation for 40% of what the stores around us quoted. Would use them again

OP here. So I went again to Blinds to go to take a closer look at everything. I really didn't like the fabric of Roman shades, nor the shades. I only liked faux wood blinds. So now I'm thinking to go to the Shade Store in Alexandria to check their products. At least on their website, they seem to have better designs, but also more expensive. For example, I like tulip style of Roman Shade. Has anyone of you had any recent experience with the Shade Store?

OP here. Thank you for this advice. I'm not sure whether we will do the whole house or divide the project, it will depend, how much the company will charge us. We definitely don't want any window treatment motorized.

OP here. We have huge windows in most of the rooms ( that go almost from ceiling to bottom of the floor) and four french doors. There is no way I could do it myself, and honestly, I don't think my husband could do a good job with installation. I will go to the Blinds to go store again to look closely at every option . We plan on installation of Roman shades in four windows in our formal dining room and living room, but will check the fabric and patterns again ( those that they had on display in showroom- we didn't like any pattern in particular); because I think they look a little bit more elegant than cellular shades, but that's just a plan for now. I think I like the idea that the person will come to our house, measure everything and gives us some advice what will work well with our windows in each room. I wish to afford a designer and have fancy curtains, custom made rods etc., but that's out of our budget.

I got a quote from Blinds to Go for cellular blinds for 16 windows for close to $5000. I was shocked. I ordered from Select Blinds and measured the windows myself (I watched their video on how to measure and measured like 3x’s each just to be sure) and the order was $1200 for a high quality blind (recommended by Wirecutter). I had my handyman who was painting my interior walls install them (took a couple minutes each), but I think they’re pretty easy to install yourself.

I went to Lowe’s and bought there off the shelf and installed myself. Could you do that? My blinds have looked fine for years. They were a name brand.

I didn’t a slightly off white. I considered Roman shades but decided against because they stuck out far from the wall, I didn’t love any fabric, and they cost way way more.

ours is in an off white color that matches our paint color which is kinda greige- (Levelor cellular whisper)--

You can order online (we ordered from blinds.com, americanblinds.com and steves blinds.com-- just to track sales (we started with one room at a time to make sure we liked them). I was anxious to measure them ourselves but it wasn't actually hard and took myhusband about 5 minutes per window to install.

they all will send you lots of free color samples

I imagine pure white will look more dingy than other things

We have an appointment next week from Blinds to Go company. We went to their showroom store to get some ideas. In our previous house we had white cellular shades installed by Next day blinds company. After few years, those white cellular blinds turned very dingy and it was impossible to clean them. We plan to have some cellular ( honeycomb) shades to have installed in our windows and french doors; ideally in white/light neutral colors. But I'm afraid of them looking dingy after a couple of years. Does any of you have any recent experience with light cellular shades and how do they hold up?
