Neoprene or nothing. They’re not cheap, but they fit perfectly and are 100% - One Hundred Percent - reliable. They will protect the seats like nothing else can or will.
Downside, they’re expensive and you’re basically sitting on wetsuit material, which some people don’t care for. But they’re THE best seat cover out there, period.

Faux leather as in vinyl? Modern car vinyl is very durable. I would not cover it unless you are looking for a cloth feel.
