As others have said, you have a lot of calls ahead to track down spots. I'd start with K-8's - it's no uncommon for kids to transfer out at middle school, so they may have openings as kids have accepted spots at other schools.

Hard no.

Sidwell says you can apply late, but I have a child on the current 6th grade wait list for next year, so I imagine you’d need serious VIP status – in which case, you probably wouldn’t be asking.

If you’re moving from outside the area, it’s worth some calls, but you should know that this was a particularly rough year for 6th grade admits, especially if coming from public school.

New School of Northern Virginia. Inclusive, small class sizes. Starts in 6th grade. But it's...in Fairfax VA

No, call. Most schools aren’t taking applications right now- they just sent out acceptances. First thing to do is touch base with the school(s).

I would really just start calling, as no one knows who will have spots.

Good luck!

Having no ideas of who might have openings...maybe check Springwell School in Silver Spring, Oneness in Bethesda, or Washington Waldorf.

Looking late (yes, I know we are getting a very late start!) for next year, for a 6th grader. Diverse and inclusive, along with small class size and interesting learning theories are ideal. NW DC preferred. Thanks!
