Ugh, disagree with this PP. You obv have a close relationship with him. I would talk to him to see what his day is like and offer up a meal, or even a nice dinner after he moves out and has more time to breath. I had a nice dinner with my family after graduation and then went to party hard with my friends afterwards. As far as presents go, a nice set of cufflinks at someplace like Thomas Pink would be great. There is no nice watch that someone in finance would like for $250 or less.

My college required that we pack up / leave immediately after graduation! And it kept threatening rain the day of the ceremony so the ceremony was delayed. A few friends had to leave the ceremony to go catch flights. The night before graduation the parents for about 10 of us organized a cookout / or catered bbq. I don’t remember exactly, but it was really nice to be with friends on the final night and for our families to either meet or see each other again.

Go online and see what the school has.
There are 2 graduation ceremonies 1) from the major 2) whole school.
We are doing a group dinner after the major graduation and a family dinner after the whole school graduation.
He will need clothes for work, you could take him shopping or give him cash.

Definitely check in with the graduate in existing plans and preferences. DS is graduating. One Aunt/Uncle is joining for the weekend because they also attended the school, but we do not have enough tickets for them

Give him money instead of a present and directly ask about his plans for the weekend. There may already be a dinner planned. He may already have plans later with friends and not want a relative offering to take him and his friends out. These are adults in their 20s. Not children. If he had parents, ask them first because there is likely a dinner already planned.

You could offer to buy the cake or take him and his friends out for a drink after dinner. For gift get him some silver bars, a great investment and they even make them for graduation. my nephew is going to graduate from colleague in May. I never attended a college graduation party before and wanted to do something nice for him, so I am in need of some ideas.
1. the school has activities during the day. in terms of evening, normally people book reservation in a nice restaurant, right? Any other nice activity i should consider?
2. graduation present: he is in finance field and very much like it. any ideas for small in size but memorable gift within $250? I will be flying to his school so don’t want to bring big item.
